Why Channel Keywords Are Important

The purpose of youtube channel keywords are to let youtube know the type of content you plan to create for your viewers and what you want people to know about your channel. When you add keywords to your channel and then you start uploading your content, what starts to happen is youtube recognizes that your base channel keywords and the videos that you are putting out have a close correlation, which then at that point it will create a matching system and the more you consistently put out content based around whatever your specific niche is then it will become easier to rank your videos higher in the search results.

What Type Of Keywords Should You Use

When it comes to channel keywords it's a little different than individual video keywords and what I mean by that is you have to think more on the broad side, so for example when you look at a picture of a tree their is the trunk of the tree, then the branches and then the leaves of the tree, so how does this correlate with your channel keywords? well the trunk would be the niche you want to be known in, while the branches and the leaves act as topics you can cover in the niche to become the authority.

How To Add Your Channel Keywords

In the YouTube Studio Dashboard, you want to click on the settings tab then once the pop-up appears you will click on the channel settings, then it will show the channel residence as well as the channel keywords for you to add and all you have to do from their is type the keywords that closely relate to what you want to make content about on your channel but don't make the mistake of putting the wrong type of keywords in their because it can throw things off for sure and so to avoid going down that road I put together the video below to walk you through the right way to do it.
